Weak vs Strong Sustainability
It increasingly seems to me that the predominantly weak sustainability strategies that characterize our most progressive actions are inadequate to the social, environmental and economic challenges that are emerging to threaten the planet and its peoples. I believe we need to give much more attention to crafting and implementing strong sustainability strategies. I have discussed this in elaborating onĀ my ideas about sustainability planning and in arguing that SCARP, IRES and UBC should be focusing on strong sustainability in research and teaching. Below I continue exploration of the concept of strong sustainability and arguments for accelerating adoption of strong sustainability strategies.
